Does Congress Represent The People? NO! – Study finds Public Support has NO Impact on whether an idea becomes law, but Wealthy Elites have Major Impact! – We have the Power to fix that!

What can we do about this?

A number of nonprofit organizations, including Represent.us, are working for reform proposals to make our electoral system better represent us, the People.

We at the Center Majority of America (VOCM America) and CMC America (the Center Majority Coalition of America) are a nonpartisan and cross-partisan alliance for like-minded Independents, Republicans, and Democrats who comprise at least 66% of the American People!

Voting together as a nonpartisan and cross-party coalition (not a third party), we hold the Power as swing voters – even without changing the rules of our electoral system – to elect Center Majority candidates who will serve our Interests & Agenda, regardless of Party.

Poll after poll shows that vast majorities of the American People actually believe and want fundamentally the same things! Yet the polarized politicians in the gridlocked extremes of both Parties are not serving our interests. Instead, they appear to be answering to their polarized Wealthy Donors and Lobbyists, who represent only the interests of the Wealthiest Individuals, as the video above shows.

Voting together, we in the Center Majority of America, have the Power to change that! Each Party today comprises less than 30% of the electorate. (See Polls in our prior posts ») Neither Party’s candidate can get elected in a general election (no matter how much Dark Money he or she takes) without enough of OUR Votes! And, importantly, neither Party can nominate a candidate without enough votes in their Primary Election; this is where we can make the real difference! Read how:

The Power we Hold Together

We represent the
Vast 66% Center Majority of the American People!

Organized & Voting Together, Not as a Third Party,
but as a Powerful Cross-Party Alliance of
Swing Voters within our Two-Party System,
We Hold the Power in America Today!

The Center Majority of America now Represents 66% of Americans!

See the polls »

We are a Cross-Party Voting Alliance & Movement of
Republicans, Independents, and Democrats,
Not a Third Party.

Right now, Third Parties and Independent candidates have very little chance of winning in our Two-Party “Winner-Takes-All” Political System, without major reforms – which would require federal legislation or a Constitutional Amendment.

Right now, the two established Parties have a Duopoly of Control, and Voters do not want to “waste” their votes on a Third Party or Independent candidate who they perceive has no chance.

But, our Cross-Party Voting Alliance of swing voters,
has the power to recruit, nominate & elect Center Majority candidates in both Parties, and to decide elections!

Think about it!

» Together, we hold the vast 66% Majority of all votes in America today!   See polls »

» Nationally, neither Political Party alone includes more than 25% of the American electorate!   See polls »

» In our two-party system, neither Party can win general elections nationally or in any “Swing State” without enough of our votes! Voting together, we have the Power to swing those elections!

» Importantly, even in strongly Red or Blue States or districts, and in most States or districts, voting together we have the power to swing Primary Elections to decide which candidates are nominated to run within each Party! This gives us far more power than a Third Party in our two-party system.

Primary Elections are crucial, since they decide who runs, and thereby who eventually is elected to represent us. And, Primary Elections historically have very low voter turn-out, making it easier for us to mobilize Center Majority voting coalitions large enough to win Primary Elections, even in strongly Red or Blue States.

Ballot access requirements for major and minor party candidates vary by State for State and local candidates, for National Congressional candidates, and for National Presidential Primary candidates. But, Working together, State by State, we have the Power and the Strategy to recruit and get good Center Majority Candidates on the Primary Ballot, eventually in every Race.

Strategy:

» We can start in U.S. House and Senate elections and state legislative, governors’ and local races with the strategy outlined in (1) through (3) below, and then in Presidential Primaries with the strategy in (4) below:

(1) In predominantly “Red” States and districts, focus first on Republican Primary Elections. In these States and districts, we can work together to recruit and vote together to nominate and elect Center Majority candidates in the Republican Party Primary, who will then stand the best chance of winning the General Election in these States and districts;

(2) In predominantly “Blue” States and districts, focus first on Democratic Primary Elections. In these States and districts, we can work together to recruit and vote together to nominate and elect Center Majority candidates in the Democratic Party Primary, who will then stand the best chance of winning the General Election in these States and districts;

(3) In prospective “Swing States,” choose the most likely path to winning, on the basis of our State by State on-the-ground analysis. In these States and certain other States, we can choose to vote together in either of the Party Primaries, or to stand behind an Independent candidate where feasible, to nominate and elect the strongest Center Majority Candidate with the best chance of prevailing, based on our on-the-ground analysis. Then, we can vote together, regardless of Party, to elect that candidate in the General Election.

(4) In Presidential Primaries, follow a strategy similar to (1) through (3) above, based on our State by State analysis. National Presidential Elections will turn on a similar Strategy in State by State Primary Elections, focusing on recruiting and nominating Center Majority candidates in both Parties. In the General Election, we will then take into account the importance of particular focus on Swing States, given our Electoral College System.

» Primary Election laws and procedures vary State by State, but yes, with advance planning, there is a proper way in every State to vote in the Primary Election you choose, even if in some states it may require you at least temporarily to change the Party designation in your voter registration (of course, leaving you free to vote for whomever you wish in the General Election). A search engine to find each State’s Voter Information is provided by the National Association of State Election Directors. And, the Center Majority Alliance in your State can help you comply with your local rules for participating in Primary Elections.

Goals:

» By thus Voting together for Center Majority candidates (especially in Primary Elections), regardless of Party, we have the Power to elect a critical mass of reasonable Center Majority Candidates in both existing Parties, who answer to us, the Majority of the American People, and will pledge to work together across the Party Divide:

  • to solve America’s festering problems that have fallen on the backs of the Middle Class and forgotten regions of the Country;
  • to shore up and protect our democracy and democratic institutions;
  • to reform our system to serve the American People (not just the wealthy and well-connected);
  • to assure a Government Of the People, By the People, and For the People; and
  • to Reclaim the American Dream of Equal Opportunity and a Level Playing Field for All Americans!

» By thus Voting together, we can elect enough reasonable Center Majority Candidates in both existing Parties to form a cross-party Center Majority Caucus and Power Block within each house of Congress and State Legislatures, eventually with enough votes to change the Rules of that legislative body within so as to permit the Center Majority Caucus to control the legislative agenda and Committee assignments, to avoid filibusters, and to pass and enact the reforms and solutions needed to save our democracy, solve the festering problems that have fallen on the backs of the Middle Class and forgotten regions of America, make our government work again for ordinary Americans, not just the wealthy, and Reclaim the American Dream of Equal Opportunity and a Level Playing Field for All Americans!

» By thus Voting Together for our Center Majority candidates, especially in Primary Elections, regardless of Party, we have the Power eventually to elect enough Center Majority candidates in both Parties to change both Parties from within, and force them, in order to win, to answer to and represent us, the Majority of the American People – to serve America, not themselves or just the wealthy Elites! And, potentially longer-term, after demonstrating our Power to win, the Center Majority of Americans may eventually develop into a Third Party with realistic and substantial chances of winning elections as such.

We can leverage our Power through cooperation with other organizations:

We view our role and efforts as complementary to and in alliance with the several nonpartisan non-profit organizations currently working to make our government more representative of the Majority of the American People. These include:

(1) Organizations promoting and working to implement electoral reforms. We applaud the efforts of the several nonprofit organizations working for electoral reforms such as Open Primaries, Ranked Choice Voting, Nonpartisan Commissions to draw electoral districts and end gerrymandering, more accessible voting for all citizens, revisions to the Rules of Procedure within the House and Senate, and other reforms. See E.g. The Institute for Political Innovation; Unite America, and Represent Us (which also works for anti-corruption reform in government).

Technical changes to electoral rules and procedures such as Open Primaries, Ranked Choice Voting, and Nonpartisan Commissions to draw electoral districts and end gerrymandering, have been shown to lead to election of candidates who have the support of a majority of the people (not just the few extremist voters who vote in Party Primaries). Consequently, more centrist and moderate candidates are elected, who are incentivized by the Majority of voters who support them to engage in bi-partisan problem-solving as elected legislators. We too support these reforms. These organizations are working painstakingly state by state on the state and local levels to begin the process of getting these electoral changes adopted. This is a long process, and we support them in their efforts.

In addition to these nonpartisan grass roots efforts to reform the political process, we believe that the now unrepresented Center Majority of the American people need an effective organization to represent them and their substantive interests politically, NOW. As an organization like a party but more powerful than a third party in our two-party Duopoly system, we can help mobilize and inform voters, and recruit and elect Center Majority Candidates in both Parties, right NOW.

By electing enough Center Majority candidates in both parties, who will work together constructively across the Party Divide in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, we can forge a more direct path to implementing the needed electoral reforms in our national elections. Article I, Section 4, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution gives Congress the power to make or alter State laws governing “the Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives.” This may be a quicker and more direct route to implementing the needed reforms on the national level than going State by State, precinct by precinct.

(2) Nonpartisan Organizations working to promote bi-partisan working relationships between Members of Congress and Senators. This includes especially the centrist nonprofit, No Labels. No Labels state that their mission is “to bring our leaders together to solve America’s toughest problems.” No Labels successfully organized “the bipartisan House Problem Solvers Caucus and an allied group in the Senate.”

We did not support No Labels’ quixotic aim to place a moderate independent candidate directly on the general election ballot in the 2024 Presidential Election, recognizing the reality that at this time such efforts were premature and had no chance of electing such a candidate President in our Two Party Duopoly political system. Learn More (Video) »

However, we strongly support the efforts of the bi-partisan Problem Solvers Caucus, including their important role in the passage of the bi-partisan infrastructure and Jobs act that passed Congress and was signed into law in 2021.

In fact, we view the Center Majority of Americans as a complementary “Unity and Problem Solvers Caucus of the American People!” While No Labels works to inspire the formation of bi-partisan working groups within Congress and the Senate, we work to elect MORE Center Majority members of both the House and the Senate, who will work together across the Party Divide, with these already existing bi-partisan Problem Solvers groups, to deliver common-sense solutions to America’s pressing problems.

(3) Other Nonpartisan & Cross-Partisan Organizations. We support and seek to work together with these and many other nonpartisan and cross-partisan organizations, such as Protect Democracy, Country First, Renew America, Unify America, More in Common, Voice of the People, and others, to help bring America together again, and to empower and deliver solutions to serve the Center Majority of the American people!

How are we Different?

Unlike any of the other organizations referenced above and others:

(1) We have a Platform and Policy Agenda – more like a political party. We take a position on the substantive issues, representing the views of the Center Majority of Americans. We are not merely process-oriented, but substantively represent the interests of the Center Majority of the American People.

(2) We are an organized Cross-Party Voting Alliance – in addition to being a Movement. Like a political party, we focus on getting out the vote, informing and serving voters, and nominating and electing Center Majority Candidates at every level of state and federal government.

(3) We have a constituency, and focus on representing and serving the Center Majority of the American People. While we do research and publish information to serve the Center Majority of Americans, we are more than a “think tank.” We are action-oriented and solution-oriented. We seek to produce real positive results for the American People.

We, the common-sense, responsible
Center Majority of Americans,
are the core and backbone
that hold this Country together.

Polls show we have much More in Common with each other
than with the Extreme Partisans in either current Political Party!

» Do you agree it is time our sensible, responsible and patriotic voices be heard and respected in the Media and in the Halls of Congress and State Governments?

» Do you agree it is time our elected public officials, at all levels of government, represent us, the Majority of the American People, not just the Dark Money Billionaires buying their election?

» Do you agree it is time we hold Politicians accountable for WHAT THEY DO in Office, and not be duped or distracted by what they and Partisan Media SAY?   Do you agree it is time we vote out those who spend their time promoting ever more extremist and anti-democratic views & disinformation, raising money from Billionaires, demonizing their partisan opponents, and blocking popular laws merely to defeat the other Party, and elect those who will work together constructively to serve the American People?

» Do you agree it is time we all stand on our own two feet, Declare our Independence to think for ourselves, and help each other identify & tune out extremist partisan politicians, hyperpartisan Media commentators, and other Disinformation predators, who try falsely to stoke fears and outrage, so they can tell us what to think, what to believe, who to hate, and how to vote, and then scam and dupe us to raise money from us?   (See How Disinformation Works to take away our ability to think for ourselves »)

» Do you agree it is time we elect common-sense, responsible Center Majority public officials in both Parties, at all levels of state and federal government, who will listen to us, tell the truth, and represent us, the Majority of the People of the United States of America?
