Based on Data from the 2020 Cooperative Election Study of approximately 61,000 Americans in all 50 States & the District of Columbia, measuring among other things how residents of each state rate themselves ideologically, Professor Brian Schaffner, co-leader of the study, concluded,
“.. as different as preferences seem across the 50 states, we’re apparently all just some slight variation on ‘middle of the road.'”
