What is Redistricting?

Gerrymandering refers to a Partisan way of drawing Congressional Districts to favor one party unfairly over the other. This happens most frequently in States where Congressional Districts are drawn by the State Legislature. This allows the Party in power at the time when district lines are redrawn every 10 years to create Districts that unfairly favor their Party over the other Party.

Through Gerrymandering, the Party in power picks the voters in each District in a way that results in more Districts favoring their Party than the percentage of their Voters statewide would merit. This is contrary to the intention of the Founders that Voters should pick our elected Representatives, not the other way around.
